The Nail Files....

When it comes to filing your nails there are certain nail files that will do the job more than others, there's also right and wrong ways to file your nails. I've learned a lot of great tips and realized which nail files are suited for my type of nails.

Today I am so excited to share what I know and hopefully give you guys some tips you might have not known on Beauty by Arielle's Blog. Thank you again Arielle for letting me guest blog on your site!

Wednesday's Beauty Tip

Beauty Tip of the Week

BODY SHAPING FOODS

I'm sure a lot of you have heard of Zumba, it's become one of the most popular fitness classes in the world. I've been wanting to try it for a while now since I've so many great things about it. For those of you who have never heard of it, "Zumba is a high-energy program with motivating music and dance drawn from salsa, meringue, and other Latin steps and free-form styles".

I bought the book, Zumba Ditch the Workout, Join the Party! The Zumba Weight Loss Program and it's such an informative and motivating book! A few of my friends and myself went to a few classes already and have started one of the diets in the book. I thought I was gonna be horrible at it and embarrass myself but that was so not the case. It was so much fun plus I was dripping sweat by the end of the class. It's safe to say I'm pretty much obsessed with Zumba now :)

1. Mini Bio?
I'm an aspiring writer who currently works as a reporter for a newspaper. My top three loves are films, writing, and makeup. I didn't always love makeup, but my freshman year of high school, my mom took me to the nearest Sephora as a treat the day of my first homecoming dance, and as we shall say, the rest is history!

NOTD: 1rst Water Marbling Attempt- Sally Hansen & Revlon

Hey Dolls!
I finally tried water marbling on my nails. When I first watched a video on it a few months ago it looked easy. Yea right! lol. Now I understand why they say practice make perfect with this. I only water marbled my ring fingers since this was my first time and I'm just getting used to it.

Even though my first attempt wasn't the greatest because I don't really like the design I choose to dunk my finger into. I'm just happy to have finally accomplished it. *Next nail project, stamping!! I have the kit already,  but that's another thing you have to practice at to get right. But its worth it for our nails, right? lol. Okay onto my nails:

Wednesday's Beauty Tip

Beauty Tip of the Week

HOW LONG DO YOU WAIT IN BETWEEN HAIR CUTS?

I've always heard that the general rule is between 6 to 8 weeks, and I'm totally guilty of waiting longer than that more times than not. Oops!

Did you know that the type of hair cut you have determines how long you should  wait till you're next cut? I didn't know that until my friend that is a hairdresser recently told me. She said she always discusses the "expiration" date with each person's hair she cuts because every single hair cut is different. After she told me that I had to share this with you guys and thankfully she gave me the lowdown. Here it is:

Review: Maybelline Dream Nude Air Foam Foundation

I'm going to review Maybelline's Dream Air Foam Foundation today. This is a fairly new product that I never heard of it until I came across it at Walmart. At first I got excited bc I thought it was an airbrush spray foundation bc thats what it looked like. Then I realized it was an air-infused foam/mouse, I was still interested so I gave it a try.

Guest Post: The Importance of SPF and a Skin Care Routine

Hi! My name is Aly and I'm so honored to be able to do a guest post for Kelly's blog! I have my own beauty blog- www.seventhingsbeauty.blogspot.com . I love makeup and I consider it to be a creative outlet for me. In this post I would like to share with you the importance of skincare and my own, personal routine.

I know skincare may seem like a very boring thing that you don't need to pay much attention to. Before I really started getting involved in makeup, I thought the same thing. I really thought that my skin would always look like it did when I was a kid. I grew up in southern Ohio and if you live there, then you know the weather varies a lot . It will be 100+ degrees out in summer and then below 0 in winter. We also get a lot of wind and a decent amount of rain. Growing up, I never applied sunscreen when I was out in the sun like when I went to an amusement park or water park. My mom would always lecture me, but I never really saw the need to put on sunscreen, despite her wishes. Sometimes I would just to keep my mom happy, but that didn't always happen. I would get itchy, red sunburn all over my face and shoulders and I always complained.

How to Create Winged/Cat Eyeliner

Beauty Tip of the Week

I don’t know if you guys noticed or not but last Wednesday I didn’t post a beauty tip of the week. I know, I felt bad but I wanted to make it up to you this week by posting something more than just a beauty tip. I’ve been meaning to do a step by step on how I do my winged eye liner. So I figured I would use this beauty tip post to do that. I really hope my instructions make sense. It’s a little hard to write out, that’s why I included pictures to hopefully help.

NOTD: Sally Hansen's Flirt + Big Money- Sponged Mani

Hey everyone!!!!

I'm back with another NOTD that I really like and hope you like too!  I used two colors that I got for my birthday last week. As soon as I saw these colors I knew I had to use them together. You'll see why... :)

I used Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear in Flirt as the base,  it's a nice rich burgundy color with a subtle tint of purple. It's a great color for fall or winter. The other color is also from Sally Hansen, its called Big Money and its from their Gem Crush line. Big Money is a fine gold glitter with large light purple glitter. It's gorgeous and the gold & purple glitter matches the burgundy nicely.

BLOW-DRYING BASICS: MY WAY

It took some trial and error to finally get a good  hair routine down for myself. I used different products, brushes & techniques before I knew what my hair needed when it came to blow drying.
I've been meaning to post my hair care routine for a while now. I hope you guys enjoy it and maybe pick up a tip or two.
I know everyone's hair is different and I have straight/wavy thick hair. So even if you don't have my type of hair I hope you like it anyway.  I apologize for the length of this post but I wanted to let you know everything I did and used :)

Five Favorites: December 2011

I cant believe how late I am with this post, I usually post my monthly favorites at the very end of every month. I have been a little busy this past week though. But, better late then never, right?  I would say that most of these products are new for the exception of a few.

REVLON Colorburst
Lip Butter

You might have heard me say before that I'm not a lipstick or lipgloss kind of person. I never really like the way lipstick looks on me and lipgloss is just annoying, I hate the stickiness and how you have to reapply it every other minute. I only really use chapstick and my favorite has been Blistex Silk & Shine for years. I think my lips are addicted to that stuff. I ended up buying Revlon's Colorburst Lip Butter in Creme Brulee'. If I do end up wearing any type of color I like nude colors and creme brulee is a pretty subtle nude. I saw a lot of great reviews on these so for $5 or $6 I figured I would try it and now I love it. I keep it in my purse where my Blistex is so I can always where it. Its so different from other lipsticks, I love how it hydrates my lips like chapstick does and also gives a pretty color that actually lasts. I would recommend these to everyone.  I noticed how they have a wide variety of colors so I wanna pick up another one. I bought this at CVS for $5.50

NOTD: Silver and Matte French Manicure

This is gonna be a quick NOTD post because I'm still not sure if I like it yet. I was inspired from a look that Kim Kardashian did back in August of 2009, it was a black on black mani with a matte and glossy finish. I love the contrast between the base and the french tips, so when I saw this I knew I had to try it. Here's the pic of Kim's nails:
