NOTD: Silver and Matte French Manicure

This is gonna be a quick NOTD post because I'm still not sure if I like it yet. I was inspired from a look that Kim Kardashian did back in August of 2009, it was a black on black mani with a matte and glossy finish. I love the contrast between the base and the french tips, so when I saw this I knew I had to try it. Here's the pic of Kim's nails:

I was gonna do the same color like she did but I wanted to try something else, silver metallic glossy tips instead.

I used 2 coats of Whats Your Name by Sinful Colors for the base. Then I applied one coat of Matte-ly in Love by Hard Candy to give it the matte finish.

Then I used Silver Coin by Revlon for the tips. It's a metallic/foil color that's really pigmented.

This is the first time I ever did this manicure and I want to try it with just the black on black next time.  I love glossy finishes but it's nice to switch it up sometimes and try something different.

Do you guys like matte finishes or just glossy?

  1. I really love this bold and strong nail design! I've really warmed to the matte finishes so I might have to purchase ELF matte top coat. :)

I definitely prefer matte.  This looks great though.  The silver really makes it pop!

  4. I've never tried matte nail polish before! I am very intimidated because I don't have very pretty nails (shape, etc.)  I love that Sinful Colors polish and will have to look for it and I had no idea that Hard Candy had a matte polish-maker!  Sweet!  This looks great on you & I LOVE the metallic on the tips! Very flashy! <3

I love matte and glossy! I like having a matte manucure once a while since it's so different and not a lot of people wore them, it's kind of unique!

  8. Thank you!!!
I didn't know that Hard Candy made it either till I saw it at Walmart one day. I love Sinful Colors, the formula is really great and there so cheap! I usually find them at Walgreens, sometimes at Rite-Aid. This color is really pretty, especially when its glossy!

You know, at first I didn't care for matte nails but I'm starting to like them more and more. It's a nice change of pace over the huge nail art trend.
