Review: QuickTan Instant Self Tanner by Body Drench

Confession: I hate being pale, I feel so much better with some color. I definitely don't have a olive skin tone and I'm not Italian but I have light to medium skin. I use bronzers all the time and don't get me wrong they definitely help, especially Bare Minerals Warmth. But, I feel that they look more natural with some sort of base color. I used to go tanning all the time, from my freshman year of high school up until a few years ago. Then I finally realized I was going to have leather for skin soon if I didn't stop. As painful as it was to stop, I finally did. So I've been on the look out for a self tanner that instantly gives you color because I know there out there.

I'm not talking about all the self tanners out there that take hours to build up. I've tried a lot of them and some work really well, actually I've been using Neutrogena's Micro Mist Sunless Tanning Spray this winter and it's probably the best drugstore self tanner in my opinion (especially for your face). But even with that one you still have to wait for 4 to 6 hours to see any color.

I pretty much gave up looking for my instant tan in a bottle.  Then last week I came across a post on The Adventures of a Broke Brunette's Blog and she mentioned a product called Quick Tan, Tanning Spray by Body Drench and it sounded like everything I've been looking for,  she said she got it at Sally's Beauty Supply so after reading her post I knew I needed to get my hands on it. Later that day I just happened to be close to Sally's (well sort of close lol) so I went in and they had it. I even asked one of the sale ladies and she said it does work great.  It was $19.99 for a 6 oz bottle. I usually wouldn't spend that much on something I never tried before but I had a good feeling about this one.

I used it at soon as i got home, I had foundation & some face powder on already. I  held it about 10 inches away from my face like the directions said to, and lightly sprayed it on my face and neck.  I looked in the mirror and couldn't believe how much of a natural tan I had in seconds. It wasn't orange like some self tanners, it has a 360 degree nozzle for even application. That was around 3pm and when I went to wash my face that night around midnight, my face and neck still looked like it did at earlier except I noticed that the color deepened a little.  In The Adventures of a Broke Brunette's Blog post she had said that it comes off when you wash your face so I expected that. On the back of the bottle it says " use daily for a deeper tan then 1-2 times a week to maintain".

The next morning I sprayed it on after exfoliating my face,  I followed the directions and used it again the next day, then skipped a day, then used it again the following day. By the fourth day I still had a great natural tan that wasn't too dark where it looked fake.  (if that makes any sense). Even when I would wash my face during the week, it didn't come off since I've been building it up every day. Finally by the 7th day I started to notice it was fading a little, I was pleasantly  surprised that it took that long.

I personally love this stuff now, it's like my miracle tan in a can lol. I can maintain a natural tan for weeks without having to fry my skin in a tanning bed or I could just use it on special occasions. The best part to me is that I don't have to wait for the color to develop. Plus it smells so good, it definitely has a yummy coconut scent that reminds me of summer.

Like I said I've only applied it on my face, neck & chest, since its winter, I'll probably try it on my arms soon and let you all know how that works.

I really recommend this to anyone that wants some color without going tanning. You can find it at Sally's Beauty Supply for $19.99. They also have a website where you can find out more about this and their other products at  www.bodydrench.com

Product Rating:  5 out of 5 nail polishes!

I've had this product for a week and 1/2 and haven't found anything I don't like about it so I really think it deserves a 5 nail polish rating!!!

  1. Kelly! I'm so proud of you for stopping the tanning bed!! I went for a while in college and it's one of the most relaxing things ever!! Like napping in a toaster oven lol. But it is sooo bad for your skin and health in general! (ah, I'm getting so preachy) but anyway! This tan in a can stuff looks fab! So glad it's working for you!!

  2. Thanks doll!! I know it sounds silly but tanning was almost like an addiction or being tan. It was really relaxing too, so relaxing that one time I feel asleep!!!!! not joking, thank god my brothers girlfriend was working there at the time bc it would have been a lot more embarrassing!! lol.

  3. Good to hear that you dropped going to the salon for a fake-n-bake tan. Smart move!!!
It really depends on the woman. I really like the natural look so I actually prefer women with light skin to keep it that way. On the other hand, people with naturally olive skin tone look pretty good with a slight tan. An overdone tan never looks good.... regardless of how the tan look was achieved. I guess the one advantage to finding that tan through a spray/lotion/bottle/tube is that there are no tan lines eh?!??
