Review: Garnier Skin Renew: BB Cream

I wanted to do a review on this product the first day I used it but I have a rule when it comes to reviewing products. I wait at least a week (less or more depending on the product). I picked up Garnier's Skin Renew BB cream in (Medium/Deep) with low expectations. I honestly have never heard of BB cream before and they promised immediate skin perfecting coverage and instantly even radiant and smooth skin. I was thinking, yea right. It was hard for me to believe that this one product could do all that, but something made me buy it anyway.

Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream ($12.99) Available in 2 shades.

"Skin concerns, such as discoloration, dullness, blotchiness and dryness can come from a number of different sources. It's hard to find just one product that addresses them all. Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream immediately and effectively fulfills your skincare expectations with just one multi-benefit product that combines intense moisturizing skincare + immediate skin perfecting coverage for skin that looks naturally more even, radiant and smooth".

My Initial Thoughts:
The first time I used it I expected a regular moisturizer maybe with a tint of color (remember I'm not too familiar with BB cream). This is the color of the product in Medium/Deep:

At first I was worried that it might be a bit too dark for my skin but it actually matched my skin perfectly. Pleasantly surprised is an understatement, I couldn't believe how great this stuff evened out my skin tone, better than any other primer I've used! It also made my skin look like it was airbrushed. So I used it the next day, and the day after that and so on. With everyday I loved it even more. Since I used tanning beds for years and baked out in the sun for so long I just started noticing a little discoloration in my skin, I know, horrible, right!

When I first read the back of the package and saw this I really didn't believe that I would get these exact results. However, I did! my complexion was so much more even, I definitely saw a nice healthily glow and my skin did seem smoother. I am more than impressed with this product, maybe it's because I never used a BB cream before. I'm not sure, either way I love it.

You only need a thin layer because the consistency is pretty thick even though it goes on sheer. It leaves my skin feeling dewy and its actually quite moisturizing. I thought I might have to apply a light weight moisturizer underneath because my skin tends to get dry sometimes but so far this has worked fine.

I applied a thin layer to my hand so you can see the before and after results.

                BEFORE                                                          AFTER

You can see how much more even my skin looks in the right picture. It looks even better on my face but you guys get the idea.

PROS:

  • Contains UVA and UVB Sunscreen, always a plus!
  • My sometimes oily T-Zone has been invisible ever since using this.
  • It has a little more coverage than a tinted moisturizer but less than foundation, I've been able to leave the house with just this on my face and feel good about it.
  • The color matched my skin exactly.
  • Since it goes on so sheer, I don't see a problem with the color you select not matching your skin tone.
  • After using this product I feel that $12.99 is a bargain for what your getting.
  • If you have sun spots/discoloration or freckles that you want to hide, this will help.
To be honest I couldn't think of anything negative to say, Garnier really did a good job at stepping up their game with this new product.

Have you guys tried this product or any other BB creams, if so what do you think about them. I would love to hear your opinion.

  1. Great review, Kelly.  I've been so curious about this BB cream because I've heard so much about them, but I am leery because I am greasy all over (ack!)  I may have to give it a try if it works for your oily t-zone.  That sounds promising!  Thanks for your review, hon! <3

I have this too! As much as I love it, I find it a bit too oily or 'shiny' on my combination skin without a powder. That has to be my only flaw of it :)

  12. You should, I love it. I wanna warn you though, bc I've had a few girls that have oily skin say it makes their face too shiny or oily. I dont know if you have oily skin or not, but just wanted to give you a heads up.. I have dry skin and have had no problems

At $13, this is a great buy. I will try it for myself to see if this stuff will work for me as well. I am not they type who follows the hype though i admit i love to buy makeup online

  16. I def think you should give it a try, I still love it. It's like a moisturizer, primer, and tinted foundation in one. They have other brands that make bb creams that are probably even better. Let me know if you try it!!
