I honestly can't believe how quick Christmas snuck up on me this year, I feel like I was just laying out in the sun. Time goes by way too quickly and Im not sure I like it This is probably going to be my last Holiday Themed Mani  since Christmas is what, only 3 days away?! I really wanted to do at least 2 more but for some reason I've been busier than I thought :( Oh well, I cant wait to do New Years Eve nails. Those are gonna be fun :)

An Inexpensive Way to Brighten Your Teeth

I've tried all sorts of teeth whiteners and toothpastes and the only one I was ever really impressed with was the white strips. But the newer ones they have out now aren't that cheap so I wanna tell you how you can use mashed strawberries and a little baking soda to whiten your teeth. I did this a few months ago and only used  it twice a week and I noticed results in a few weeks.  

Its a great inexpensive way to remove stains from your teeth, strawberries have a certain type of acid in them that works as a stain remover and baking soda has always been known as a cleaning agent. If you do this twice or three times a week you will notice a difference in 2 or 3 weeks, the longest a month.

I hope everyone's having a good day. I am going to be reviewing a product that was sent to me from BornPrettyStore.com. If you've never heard of them, there a website with all different nail supplies, tool, stickers, stampking kits, brushes,etc. If you are into doing nail art and designs like myself you'll really like the site and what they have to offer.

I was contacted by them about a month ago asking if I would be intrested in trying out one of their products to review and of course I said yes. I had never heard of them until they contacted me. When I took a look at the site to pick out a product, I immedieatly saw there Dotting Tool Set and knew I wanted to try this product.

I've seen a lot of "What's in my purse" videos on YouTube but you don't see a lot of bloggers post about it. I guess because it makes more sense since we can actually see whats in your purse but you can always take pictures and post them.

NOTD: Holiday Themed Nails- Winter Wonderland

So this is my 2nd Holiday themed manicure of the month. For some reason I could not decide on what colors or designs I wanted to do. I was looking through my polish stash and saw Blue Lagoon by Revlon and then it came to me, snowflakes and winter! I bought this color a few weeks ago, its part of Revlon's 2011 Romantic Collection. It's basically a baby blue with pretty iridescent shimmer. So anywho, onto the mani.

MY FAV NAIL COLORS OF THE SEASON + SWATCHES

This post is going to feature some of my favorite nail colors I've collected this season along with swatches. If you read my blog you might know that I'm really into nail polish, I always have been but my obsession has gotten worse over the year.  I used a nail wheel to swatch each color so you can hopefully see what it looks like outside of the bottle. As you can see I marked each color with a number right above and that corresponds to the descriptions below. I wanted to narrow it down to just 10 colors but I couldn't do it, narrowing it down to 13 was even hard. I hope you enjoy this post :)

NOTD: Red Carpet Christmas!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! This weekend we put up the Christmas tree and decorated the house. That always puts me in the holiday spirit. I’ve been excited to do a few festive theme manis throughout the month and today's nails are decked out in red, green and gold. I began with my usual basecoat, Sally Hansen's Complete Care 4 in 1 treatment. Then I used 2 coats of Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear's Red Carpet. Red Carpet is a pretty jelly based deep red with very fine glitter. The formula applied very smoothly and was completely opaque with just 2 thin coats.  I really love this color, its almost like a ruby red because of the light glitter. Then I applied a thin coat of Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri Anti Chip Top Coat.

Five Favorites: November 2011

I'm not going to say the usual "I cant believe it's already December" like I usually do every month bc its true. I am going to say that I'm happy its December, its my favorite month of the year. I love the holiday season so much plus my birthday is right after Christmas!
My favorite products this month are mostly new ones I bought and I think there's only one that I've had but started using again. 

SECHE VITE
Dry Fast Top Coat

I actually just purchased this yesterday but I already know I love it. After reading on so many nail blogs about how great this stuff was I had to see what all the hype was about. I went to Sally's Beauty Supply and they had it. I applied one coat of it on my already painted nails as soon as I got home. I swear it dried in less than a second! Then I noticed how shiny my nails looked. I have a very pretty blue  color with flashes of pink and purple shimmer on  and it made the color 10x more gorgeous. I've heard other bloggers say that it's the best top coat ever and they didn't know how they even painted there nails before they found this stuff. Now I totally understand what they mean. My mom also said to me later in the day, "Your nails look so gorgeous, it looks like shiny glass" lol. I told her about the top coat and she of course wanted to try it and loves it too. It guarantees not to yellow your nails from dark nail colors and promises to keep your color last without any chipping. The price was a little steep, it was around $9 but if you order it on the Sally's Beauty Supply website you can get it for only $7.99, or a dollar less if you are a member. It was well worth the money for me though. I cant wait to use it with every mani I do.

So today's NOTD is also going to be a review on Sally Hansen's HD Hi- Definition line since this is the first time I've ever used it. I know this line came out sometime this past spring so I'm surprised that I haven't used it yet. The color Laser, is  a pretty medium to dark blue with flashes of pink and purple shimmer. It stuck out like a sore thumb at the store.It looks so amazing in the bottle, hopefully you can see the stripe of purple showing in this pic.

Did you ever notice when your at a hair salon how they have their hair brushes and combs soaking in water?  which is actually disinfectant. They do this for sanitation reasons but also to keep everyone's hair looking nice and clean. Think about it, if they didn't clean their brushes then there would be dirt, oil and dandruff from everyone's hair, ewww!!!

SEXY CURVES FULL BODY EXTRA VOLUME & SHAPELY CURVE MASCARA

I just realized that this is the first mascara review I've ever done so bare with me lol. I noticed that mascara hasn't been on the top of my shopping list lately. One of my favorite mascara's is the classic Maybelline Great Lash Mascara (you know, the one in the pink bottle). I've bought a ton of these and I have it in royal blue too. I've always been pleased with the results but that doesn't mean I haven't tried other ones too. I feel like its difficult to find a really good mascara that you like, for me anyway.I was at CVS the other day and noticed that they had this mascara and I remember seeing it either on a YouTube video or a blog, then I remembered why, it was the brush.

I'm sure you have all heard of the makeup artist Bobbi Brown or at least of her makeup products. If you haven't she's an internationally reowned makeup artist and CEO of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. Her products are sold in more than 400 stores and 20 countries worldwide. In addition to her creating cover looks for magazines, working with models, fashion shows, etc. She's also the author of two New York Times bestsellers. I have one of her books, Bobbi Brown Beauty Evolution. It's a really good book and she's filled with tons of tips and tricks.

So this nail look of the week was created around Sally Hansen's nail polish strips in check it out. As you can see there not your traditional checkered look but they still look like checkers. I've had these strips for a while and wanted to use them but I don't like applying them to all my nails. I feel like it takes too long and besides I like painting my nails but there fun to use on a few nails here and there.

ACNE?

TRY TEA TREE OIL

Have you ever thought of trying using tea tree oil if you suffer from acne? I'm not saying you have to have severe acne either, I bought a bottle of this to use as a spot treatment. I even dab it on parts of my face that are known for breaking out even if there are no visible blemishes. By doing this for a few months I noticed less blemishes and even some scaring I had seemed to fade away. If you don't know what is in tea tree oil let me tell you: 

NOTD: SPARKLE + BLACK = GORGEOUS!

I usually only paint my nails once a week, I feel like if I was to paint them more than that it wouldn't be good for my nails,  but if you saw my last NOTW post with the Snow Me White and Rock Star Pink glitter added you know that I was not happy with the results at all. So I made an exception and took it off today and tried something different.

Taking Care of Hand and Nails: My Way

As you probably know the key to achieving attractive looking hands and nails is more than just the color of nail polish you choose or how well you apply it. Just like having a skin or hair care regimen, it's also important to have a good regimen for your hands and nails too. Let's be honest, we all probably feel better about ourselves when are nails look nice and groomed, right? In order to accomplish this you have to take care of your nails to keep them healthy. Thankfully you don't have to go to a nail salon to achieve this. I am in no way a professional or do I claim to be, but over the years I've developed a routine that has helped to keep my nails strong and healthy. I'm not saying the products I use or the things I do will work best for everyone, but they do for me! If anything, I'm hoping this can help to serve as a guide for your own routine. Here's what I do:

1. My favorite thing about this week was: Today! bc it's Friday, I'm off and I'm going shopping 

2. Colder weather makes me: uncomftorable if it's too cold and makes me not wanna get out of bed

3. Three things that make me terribly happy as of late are:  blogging, this weekend! & a surprise in the mail

4. If I could only wear one kind of shoe for the rest of my life, I'd choose: The most comftorable shoes I could find!

5. My personality type is: I am a fun and really friendly person

6.  I have a serious problem resisting: Oh wow..lol, there's way too many. Spending money would have to be number 1

7. My favorite color to wear is: I cant say I have one favorite color, I like all different colors, black. People say I look good in red for some reason.

NOTD: SNOW ME WHITE & ROCK STAR PINK

I had the urge to paint my nails white for some reason but I didn't have a good white polish in my collection. So I went to Twitter to find out which brands made a good white nail polish. You know how white needs to be applied very evenly or it will look messy, well someone said that Sinful Colors made a nice one and I do love that brand. I went to my local Walgreen's and found Snow me White for only a $1.99.

I was very pleased with how nice and even it came out. I needed to use 3 coats to give it that bright opaque finish I wanted.

I bought this really pretty glitter polish called Rock Star Pink by Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear a few weeks ago but haven't had the chance to try it yet. So I layered it on top of the Snow me White.
