Five Favorites: March 2013

So this post is a little late, I meant to write it last week but life got in the way of course. I hope you enjoy checking out the five products I picked for the month of March :)

Vaseline Spray & Go 

Moisturizer

I received this a month ago in the Influenster Sugar N Spice VoxBox and I never heard of it before so I was really curious to see if it worked. The whole point of this product is to be able to moisturize in seconds so you can put your clothes right on. The directions say to hold the can 4 inches from the skin and spray over your body in one continuous motion. Then quickly rub into skin and go. I have to say, I'm impressed! The idea is genius, especially for when your in a rush. After spraying this on my extra dry skin I can immediately feel it soaking up the moisture. My skin felt silkier and smoother right away and not greasy at all. The scent is light and refreshing and the nozzle has a lock when you turn it which is cool so you don't accidentally spray it. I believe it said a bottle cost around $7 on the Influenster card.

Bare Minerals Tinted Mineral Veil

I've had this product for a while now, it came in the Bare Minerals Starter Kit I got last year. I never really tried it, so it's been hidden in the back with all my other powders. I came across it recently and really tried it this time. Ever since then I've been using it over my foundation. It helps to create that flawless look, and it also makes my pores less visible. Even though it's the "tinted" mineral veil I really don't see much color at all. But I like that so I can use it as almost a finishing powder. I can't imagine not using it everyday over my foundation. It's become one of my holy grail products. I'm going to try and find this on Amazon or Ebay so it's cheaper than $20.

NYC Matte Me Crazy Topcoat

I go through stages where I'm really into the matte finish and lately I've been in that stage. I recently picked up NYC Matte Me Crazy top coat. I was a little hesitant since it was only a few dollars but it works really well. I have the Butter London Matte top coat which is obviously a lot more expensive and I think NYC works just as good, if not better. I love finding a drug store product that works just as good as a high end product. It gives you the perfect matte finish in one simple coat. I got this for $2.99 at Walmart 

Urban Decay Glinda Palette

I won this palette from the Pretty in Pocket App Launch Giveaway along with some other cool products. I was especially excited about trying this though. The Glinda palette is one of the two limited edition palettes inspired by the movie "Oz the Great and Powerful". It comes with 8 different eyeshadows, the 24/7 glide-on eye liner pencil in purple and the Super Saturated High-Gloss lip color in Glinda, a soft pink color. The colors are so pigmented and vivid, it's a mixture of some dark shades and some lighter shades. I really like it because these are colors I don't own in my collection. I love each color and you can create so many different looks with this palette. I didn't purchase this but I know they sell it at Sephora for $49.00

Physicians Formula Shimmer Custom 

Eye Gel Liner

I saw these on sale at Target for $4 and there originally $10 so I couldn't pass it up . That is an amazing deal because you are getting 3 different eyeliners. I got the set for blue eyes and this trio comes with a navy blue, a brown and a black that has a tint of blue shimmer. It comes with a brush too but I use my own. I like using gel liner when I'm lazy and don't feel like applying liquid. These liners go on nice and easy, and I like that I can either make a fine line or more of a dramatic line. The navy blue isn't so dramatic that I can't wear it for a daytime look which is good. After using them and knowing how great they are I would have spent the $10 on them.  Their also budge proof, it won't come off even a little unless you use makeup remover. I hate any type of liner that smudges or fades a few hours later. I would compare these to some high end gel eyeliners, that's how good they are. If you like gel eyeliner I recommend them.

Five Favorites: February 2013

Sorry , I know this post is a little late, but to be honest with you this month flew by so quick and I forgot to pick my favorites for the month. I know, I'm horrible lol. Well, better late than never, right? Here are my 5 most used and favorite products from February.

Beauty Blender

I kept hearing so many great things about this product so I first bought a knock off version at CVS a few months ago. I wasn't impressed with it at all so I finally gave in and bought the real thing this month and now I understand what all the hype is about. My foundation is so much easier to apply with this and I can see a big difference in how my foundation looks too. Its really easy to clean and I can't see myself using anything other than the beauty blender to apply my foundation. I purchased the beauty blender set for $35 on Sephora's website. The set comes with the beauty blender sponge and the beauty blender cleaner. It was worth every penny!

Burt's Bees Garden Tomato Toner

I started adding a toner to my skin regimen over the summer and I would try different kinds from drugstores and didn't see much results. So for Christmas my mom surprised me with this product. Mostly every Burt and Bee's product I've tried hasn't disappointed me so I was hoping this would be the same. I've never used any skin products with tomato in it but I guess there really good for your skin. Within a week or two of using this daily I noticed that my skin stopped getting oily towards the end of the day and I also noticed less breakouts. I've read a lot of mixed reviews, some people hate it, some people love it. I guess it depends on your skin type. I have combination skin, more dry than oily and I love it. They sell this at my local Target for around $20.

Remington T-Studio Pearl Ceramic Curling Wand

I've never bought one of those expensive curling wands, for example,the Enzo and after using this curling wand I would never spend that much money on one. This Remington Ceramic Curling Wand gives me really pretty curls that actually last. It comes with a wide variety of temperature settings and one of those heat resistant gloves so you don't burn your fingers. I really like that you can achieve different types of curls; tight ringlets, bouncy curls, beachy waves, etc. If I didn't already know how much I paid for this I would have guessed it cost a lot more than $25! I highly recommend this if your looking for a good curling wand but don't want to spend a lot of money. I got mine at Walgreen's but have also seen it at other drugstores. 

Tweezerman Stainless Steel Clippers

My nails tend to grow very quickly so I need to cut them down almost every 3 weeks. I don't like to use a nail file to cut them down because I feel like it weakens them so I use a nail clipper. I've been looking everywhere for a nail clipper that has a flat straight edge instead of the usual slight curve edge. When I use the regular nail clippers it makes it a lot harder to keep the shape of my nails square. So I finally came across a pair by Tweezerman on Amazon for only $5 that have a complete straight edge. These are actually toe nail clippers but I use them on my nails so I get a nice even straight cut and not a curve. It makes it so much easier to shape my nails the way I want them now.  If you're looking for a pair like this and haven't found them at a store, go on Amazon.


e.l.f Studio Powder Brush

I bought this brush before I bought the beauty blender, but I wanted to add it to my favorites because it really is a great brush. I've used this brush to apply powder and liquid foundation and it works really well with both. I was surprised at how soft and dense the brush was and that it doesn't shed. I have brushes like this that cost way more that shed everytime I use them. Even more, it always picks up the right amount of foundation and deposits the pigment evenly and flawlessly! For only $3 this brush is definitely worth it!! I found this brush at Target with all the other elf products.

Five Favorites: January 2013

It's the end of the month (already) so that means time to pick out my 5 most used and favorite products of the month. I always like writing these posts even though it sometimes can be challenging to pick only 5 products. However, if I didn't give myself a limit I would probably end up with too many. Yea, so that's why I always do just 5, if anyone was wondering :)

Wet n Wild Ultimate Brow Kit

This is the only brow kit I will use on my eyebrows. I have medium brown brows, so the middle shade is perfect. The bottom shade is obviously too dark, so sometimes I will use it as an eyeliner.  I like the wax because it keeps my brows in place while giving them that neat put together look. This kit comes with a small brush, tweezers and a mirror that slides out. I don't use the brush or tweezers only because I have my own set I really like. With Wet n Wild being amazing as they are, this only costs $3 or $4!  I ran out of it about 6 months ago and really thought they stopped making it. Then I saw it in Rite Aid and almost had a heart attack I was so happy. I bought 2 of them!

Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm 

I've only used one other BB cream and that was Garnier's BB cream. I bought that one last year and fell in love with it and have been using it ever since. I recently got to try a sample of the Too Faced BB cream and really liked this one too.  I decided to buy it, plus I've almost used up my Garnier tube. It comes in just 4 different shades which might be an issue for some depending on your skin tone. Thankfully Nude Glow was perfect for me. I like this because it gives you some coverage (but it's not too heavy) just like the Garnier one. It really does a great job at evening out my skin and covering any redness. I honestly feel 100% comfortable with just this on my face if I didn't feel like wearing a lot of makeup. Another great point- it doesn't have too many harmful ingredients and has SPF 20. It is a little pricey, $34 at Ulta, but it was a small splurge that was worth it.

Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Glow Pads

I have yet to find a self tanner for my face that is streak free, not orangy or doesn't dry my face out, until now. I've never heard of Dr. Dennis Gross skincare until I saw YouTube guru emilynoel83 mention these. I  found them at Sephora and ordered the 20 pack for $32. They also have a 50 pack for $65. These self tanning towelettes are just for your face, but they also make ones for you body. They give you a nice even natural glow. What is even more great is that these towelettes are helping your skin at the same time. They have active Vitamin D and anti aging antioxidants. I use them at night before bed since it takes about 3 hours for the color to develop. My only wish was that the color lasted longer than 3 or 4 days. They are also sold on the Dr. Dennis Gross website.

Rimmel Scandal Eyes SHOW OFF Mascara

I've only tried 5,000 mascaras in my life and liked about 10..(lol- exaggerating but you get the idea). So what's not one more to try out. That's what I was thinking to myself when I randomly picked this up at CVS a few weeks ago. I really think my expectations for mascara are too high and I need to lower them.  Anyway this mascara did not disappoint! I was impressed with the volume and length it gave my lashes without clumps or any mess. If you look at the wand (on the left) the flat part of the brush plumps the lashes and the ball at the tip lifts and defines. When applying mascara I rarely apply a second coat just because it always seems to clump up. When I tried a second coat with this mascara I had no clumps!  I'm so glad I tried this mascara because it's one of my favorites now. This was around $7 at CVS and I've also seen them at other drugstores.

Britney Spears Fantasy

I've always been a fan of Britney Spears fragrances, I used to own her other fragrance, Curious so when I smelled Fantasy I really liked it. There are so many perfumes out there I like, but these always have an elegant, girly, sweet kind of smell. It's perfect for during the day or at night and you only need 1 or 2 spritz and it really does last a while. It's funny because I've been wearing this all month, so whenever I walk into work they know I'm there without seeing me. This was a Christmas present but I'm almost positive I saw it at TJ Maxx for around $30

Five Favorites: September 2012

1. Conair Bun Maker- 

I usually like to throw my hair up in a bun, either when I'm working out because that seems to be the only way from my hair flopping all around. I also like the messy bun look and when the bun has volume. Before I bought the Conair Bun Maker I would put my hair up in a ponytail and twist the rest around and use bobby pins to keep it in place but I really couldn't  mess around with it, or give it any volume. I always wanted to try one of these bun makers so when I saw it at Walgreen's on sale for $2 I couldn't resist. 

The conair bun maker comes with a donut looking loofah, ponytail holder and four pins. Its really simple to use, all you do is put your hair up and then pull it through the hole and wrap it around the donut; then you pin the ends, one end of the  pin goes through the donut and the other end goes in your hair at the scalp. Just make sure to spread the hair around enough that the donut isn't showing through. Then use the remaining pins to secure it.  I like to tease the ends of my hair after I pull it up so it gives me some extra volume. I'm glad I bought this because I use it whenever I feel like wearing a bun now.

2. Sally Hansen LA CROSS Perfect Arch Brow Set-

I don't like to do my own eyebrows except for plucking a few stray hairs. I always get them done at the salon. Plus I don't enjoy the process and I feel like I might tweeze too much and be left with half an eyebrow. I picked up this kit at Ulta because of the angled scissors that came with it. I heard they make shaping your eyebrows a lot easier. 

Besides the angled scissors it comes with a little plastic shaver that's disposable, and a  brow brush. This little kit is a lifesaver for me. The angled scissors make it really easy to pluck the hairs that are out of place. I like the razor and comb even though I haven't used the razor too much (still a little nervous) but now that I have this I don't have to go get my eyebrows done as frequently. The kit was $8 at Ulta and I would definitely recommend it.

3. e.l.f. Nourishing Cuticle Pen-

I made a recent trip to Target to see what elf products they had and I bought a few things, but one of my favorites is this cuticle pen. I'm always trying to take care of my nails and cuticles. I usually use creams or oils and have never tried the pens until now.  The oil is very soothing and stays on even after washing my hands. It's not greasy at all and the marker makes it very easy to apply. I've been using this pen instead of my usual cuticle cream and my cuticles look just as good. I should have stocked up and bought a bunch of them since there only a $1.

4. Rodan + Fields ANTI-AGE Overnight Restorative Cream-

I did a post a few weeks ago on the Rodan + Fields UNBLEMISH skin care regimen I received. I was sent a 60 day supply to test and review on my blog. Click here to read the post if you want. Along with the four products I got I also received there anti-age overnight cream that can be used with any one of there regimens. I honestly have to say I love all the products and so far my skin looks so much better (but I will be posting an update on that soon). 

For the last 6 months I've been waking up with oily skin which is weird bc I've never had oily skin before. I've always had normal to dry skin even in the morning.  Well, after using this overnight cream for about a week or so I noticed my skin wasn't as oily in the morning. Besides that, my skin feels smooth and looks alive again.  Check out my post to see the rest of Rodan + Fields products, they really do work. 

5. e.l.f Studio High Definition Powder-

This was another fav from my trip to Target. For $6 this powder is great! I use it after foundation, blush and bronzer and it pulls everything together and makes my skin look matte and in an airbrushed way. It's a translucent powder that's really fine and goes on super smooth and evenly. It comes with a small makeup puff that I use to apply it then blend it out with a fluffy powder brush. Another great product, gotta love E.L.F!

Five Favorites: August 2012

Better late then never, right? lol. I did have this favorites post ready a few days ago, but had technical difficulties, again! No more though! (knock on wood).. These products I've been using all summer so it was pretty easy to pick them out.

It's a 10 Miracle
Leave-In Product

I've heard a lot of good things about this product for a while but I never wanted to shell out the $20. They had a trial size at CVS for only $4 so I got it, tried it and then bought the full sized bottle. This one bottle is like having 10 different products for different uses. It's supposed to repair damaged hair, add shine, controls frizz, protects hair color, heat protector, de tangles, stops hair breakage, creates silkiness, enhances natural body and prevents split ends. Now I'm not sure about all 10 of those, but from my experience it controls frizz, de tangles, creates shine and silkiness and also smells good. I used to use at least 3 different products before blow drying my hair and now I only need this one. The consistency is thick and not thinking about it I applied too much the first time and it weighed my hair down a bit. Now I only use a few sprays, comb it through and that's it. I definitely love this product and the fact that it's the only one I need to use now. Full size retails for around $20


Mally High Shine 
Liquid Lipstick

I received this as part of the NewBeauty TestTube sampling program to review. (I'm still working on the review post). You get a bunch of high end samples and 3 full size products and this lipgloss was one of them. I'm not really a lipgloss or lipstick girl, I don't like the stickiness or how it looks on me. The only colors I ever wore are nude subtle colors. I happened to really like this and have been wearing it since I opened it. The color is called Just Heaven, a light pinkish nude. It's a 4 in 1 formula that works as a lip primer, lip gloss, lipstick and lip liner. It gives your lips a shiny tint of color without the stickiness I hate. I don't need to reapply it every 2 minutes and it keeps my lips hydrated. Mally is a celebrity makeup artist that has designed red carpet looks for the biggest celebrities. In Shower Hair Removal

I hate shaving with a passion and have tried other hair removals like Nair a while ago but never liked them. Something made me pick this up at Walmart in the beginning of the summer, I think I had a coupon or something. The packaging is awesome, it has a brush for a dispenser which makes it easy to just brush the cream on your legs. The best is the "in-shower" feature, you apply it to your legs and jump into the shower and it continues to do what it needs to. So for the first 2 minutes in the shower you're not supposed to let your legs get wet. Then after 3 minutes you can rinse the cream off with a washcloth. I was very surprised at how well this worked. I couldn't believe that it took all the hair off my legs and left them  nice and smooth.  You can also use this on your underarms and bikini area. Retails anywhere from $10.99 to $12.99

Sally Hansen 
Airbrush Legs

I'm not going to go into too much detail on this product because I just recently did a full review where you can read here!  Everything this product claims to do is true. It covers any imperfections on your legs, gives the illusion that you're wearing pantyhose, it blends very easily just like foundation and it stays strong in the pool or at the beach. Can you tell I love this stuff? lol. It comes in 3 different shades, light glow, medium glow and tan glow. I have the tan glow and it matches perfectly. I love the airbrushed look you get from this. It's not messy at all and takes less than a minute to dry. I highly recommend this to anyone, even if you don't have imperfections to cover up, you will still like the result. I paid $12.99 at Walmart and I think its worth every penny!

Garnier Skin Renew
BB Cream

I should mention that this is my first BB cream, when I first stumbled upon it at CVS months ago I didn't even know what BB cream was. Then I started reading the back of the box and was very skeptical, I mean how could this one product even out your skintone, moisturize, work like a primer, tinted moisturizer and help reduce fine lines and wrinkles? Sounded too good to be true but I had to try it and ever since it's become a staple in my everyday beauty routine. If I'm having a good skin day I can leave the house with this and maybe some bronzer or blush on and feel confident. What I like the most is how it brightens and evens out my skintone, gives me light coverage, moisturizes and gives my skin an overall healthy look. I got lucky because the medium/deep shade I have matches perfectly. I agree it should come in a few more shades though. There are a lot of high end BB creams and other drugstore brands are coming out with there own versions. I honestly don't have any reason to try another brand since Garnier's does such a great job! I purchased this for $12.99 at CVS.

Five Favorites: April 2012 Video

Hey Dolls!

You know how I like to experiment with making videos, so I decided to make a video of my five favorites for April. It was fun so I might do it for every month and maybe I will get better at the whole filming process. I still wrote a short description for each product. Like I said in the video these aren't really new products, I've had them for a at least a month or more.

Five Favorites: March 2012

I apologize for posting my March favorites late and I'll say it again, better late than never. I feel like I've been saying that too much lately, which is so not like me. (bad blogger)!
Here are my five favorites for March, these are all products that I've had and just started using. Wow, I'm actually surprised I was able to go the whole month without buying one new beauty product. That wont last for long though.


Organix Nourishing
Coconut Milk Shampoo

I tried this shampoo a few months ago and really liked it. Somehow it got hidden behind a bunch of stuff in my bathroom cabinet. So I decided to go through everything and found the bottle I bought. I was so happy that I found it but mad that I've had it all this time and forgot. I love using sulfate free shampoo's, there so much better for your hair and it shows. My hair feels so silky and shiny when I use this, plus it smells amazing and you can still smell it on your hair the next day. I haven't used their conditioner with it but I imagine it works just as well. It's not expensive either. I believe it was around $6 at CVS.

Five Favorites: February 2012

It seems like this post sneaks up on me every month for some reason, maybe because every month seems to go by so quick. Especially this one since it's the shortest. I didn't buy too many new  products this month, so these are products I've used more of this month. 

Quick Tan 
Bronzing Spray
by Body Drench

 I bought this in the end of January and instantly fell in love with it and I've been using it a lot this month. It's been great because I feel like I have a natural tan in February. One of the main reasons I bought this and love it is because unlike other self tanning sprays this one gives you instant color. It's not an orangy fake looking tan either, it actually looks real. I still can't believe it because I've been looking for something like this for a while. Since it's winter I only really use it on my face, neck and sometimes arms. Before finding this I used to use Neutrogena's Micro Mist Sunless Tanning Spray and I liked it but I had to wait about 6 hours for the color to develop. With this you can either use it for a special night out and spray it lightly after you've done your makeup. Or you can use it like a self tanner and spray it before putting on any makeup every other day to build up the color.  It doesn't make my face break out at all either. I actually found out about this in a post from another blogger. I ran out to Sally's Beauty Supply the day I read her post and bought it. It was $19.99. Five Favorites: January 2012

When I went to pick my five favorite's for January I was a little surprised that I didn't buy too much this month. I guess that's a good thing, because I did tell myself I needed to calm down a little with the excessive shopping ,especially with beauty products. There are a few new things I bought this month but overall everything else are products I've been using more.

Bare Minerals 9
piece Starter Kit

I always wanted to try Bare Minerals ever since I saw their first infomercial a few years ago. So when Sephora came out with their exclusive introductory kit for only $60, I jumped at it. I mean, that's a really good price. Even though there the smaller sizes it's plenty of product since you only need a tiny bit. I got the Medium kit that came with: 2 of the foundations in medium-tan and tan, All over face color in Warmth, Tinted Mineral Veil, 3 brushes and their Prime Time foundation Primer. I was a little nervous since I tend to have dry skin but after reading all the reviews and how it helped people with dry skin, combination skin & pretty much every type of skin, I was confident that I

would like it. I love it actually! I mix the two foundations together and the color is perfect, even though its powder it almost feels like a cream. I love my bronzers and  the warmth is probably the best I've ever tried. You just have to make sure to only use a tiny bit or it will be too much. Then there's the mineral veil that really brings the whole natural look together. I'm still not too sure what the difference is between the full flawless face brush and the flawless face brush besides the size. The light stroke brush is domed shaped and great for covering up any small areas. The prime timer primer is so nice & silky, it makes application a thousand times smoother.

Five Favorites: December 2011

I cant believe how late I am with this post, I usually post my monthly favorites at the very end of every month. I have been a little busy this past week though. But, better late then never, right?  I would say that most of these products are new for the exception of a few.


REVLON Colorburst
Lip Butter

You might have heard me say before that I'm not a lipstick or lipgloss kind of person. I never really like the way lipstick looks on me and lipgloss is just annoying, I hate the stickiness and how you have to reapply it every other minute. I only really use chapstick and my favorite has been Blistex Silk & Shine for years. I think my lips are addicted to that stuff. I ended up buying Revlon's Colorburst Lip Butter in Creme Brulee'. If I do end up wearing any type of color I like nude colors and creme brulee is a pretty subtle nude. I saw a lot of great reviews on these so for $5 or $6 I figured I would try it and now I love it. I keep it in my purse where my Blistex is so I can always where it. Its so different from other lipsticks, I love how it hydrates my lips like chapstick does and also gives a pretty color that actually lasts. I would recommend these to everyone.  I noticed how they have a wide variety of colors so I wanna pick up another one. I bought this at CVS for $5.50

Five Favorites: November 2011

I'm not going to say the usual "I cant believe it's already December" like I usually do every month bc its true. I am going to say that I'm happy its December, its my favorite month of the year. I love the holiday season so much plus my birthday is right after Christmas!
My favorite products this month are mostly new ones I bought and I think there's only one that I've had but started using again. 

SECHE VITE
Dry Fast Top Coat

I actually just purchased this yesterday but I already know I love it. After reading on so many nail blogs about how great this stuff was I had to see what all the hype was about. I went to Sally's Beauty Supply and they had it. I applied one coat of it on my already painted nails as soon as I got home. I swear it dried in less than a second! Then I noticed how shiny my nails looked. I have a very pretty blue  color with flashes of pink and purple shimmer on  and it made the color 10x more gorgeous. I've heard other bloggers say that it's the best top coat ever and they didn't know how they even painted there nails before they found this stuff. Now I totally understand what they mean. My mom also said to me later in the day, "Your nails look so gorgeous, it looks like shiny glass" lol. I told her about the top coat and she of course wanted to try it and loves it too. It guarantees not to yellow your nails from dark nail colors and promises to keep your color last without any chipping. The price was a little steep, it was around $9 but if you order it on the Sally's Beauty Supply website you can get it for only $7.99, or a dollar less if you are a member. It was well worth the money for me though. I cant wait to use it with every mani I do.  

Five Favorites: October 2011

I have to say this time, I'm actually excited that October is over bc I love this season. I'm not too crazy about Thanksgiving but Christmas is my favorite time of the year and right after that is my birthday. Then I'm impatiently waiting spring. Anyway, this month's products were a little hard to choose, I guess there weren't too many new products I used. That's okay though because I was still able to pick out five I was loving in October.

I've been using this spray for years on and off. I've always wondered why I've never heard about this product on beauty sites, magazines or blogs. It could be because I only see it at few drugstores and its usually hidden at the very end of the makeup aisles in the nail section. I always notice a difference in how long it takes my nails to dry when I use it. I spray each nail (or hand) right after applying polish and then a few other times. I feel like I have more time to do my nails when I have this spray, bc I know it wont take as long for my nails to dry. For such a big bottle I do go through it a little quick, but that's only bc I use a lot of it. I've only found this at CVS or Walgreen's and paid $3.99.

Five Favorites: September 2011

I cant believe its time for me to do another monthly favorites post, I feel like I just did August's. Time does fly, way too fast sometimes. This month, as far as beauty products was pretty simple for me. I don't feel like I used anything to fancy that much. I pretty much kept it simple, I find that I tend do this a lot in the summer months bc of the heat. Most of these products are ones I've had that I started using more this month. Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moisture Treatment

Whenever I use this 3 minute miracle treatment my hair feels totally different. I've yet to find a regular conditioner that does what this does. I don't use it everyday, I probably would if I didn't have to wait 3 minutes to rinse it out. I know, I'm very impatient. I also found if I leave it in my hair for about 5 minutes the results are better. It's made for dry or damaged hair and its a simple solution to soft manageable hair. When I use this I can tell as soon as I start rinsing it out that my hair feels great. I have less tangles when getting out of the shower, I have an easier time blow drying and styling and I don't feel like I need to use as much, or if any kind of anti-frizz serum. One of the best things about this product is that its super affordable. This is my second bottle and I've never paid more than $3.99. The packaging makes it easy to get every last drop out of the bottle. I highly recommend this to anyone that deals with dry/coarse or frizzy hair. You can find it any local drugstore. 

e.l.f Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzer Duo

This is another great bargain, this cheap duo has gotten a lot of use from me all summer long. When I first opened it I didn't think I was going to like it because it lhas a shimmery look.  But once you put   it on you dont notice the shimmer. A lot of people have compared this to NARS Orgasam/Lugana Duo, I recently saw a YT video comparing the two and its not that similar but I like the elf duo better. I dont contour my cheeks everyday but when I do the bronzer works great for this and its buildable.  As far as the blush, I use it on top of my Milani Mineral Blush in Sunset bc its a peachy color. So when I mix it with a little bit of elf's blush it gives the peachy color a glowy light pink tint. The packaging on the other hand would be great if the mirror inside didn't fall off. But who knows, I could have dropped it a few times. I've never used the mirror anyway so it doesnt bother me. This was only $3 at Target! I know, only $3! If your local Target sells elf products you'll probably find it there or you can order it from the elf website.

                                    Rimmel's Fix & Perfect Primer

This is my favorite drug store primer because its not like the rest of the primers out there. It doesn't have that silky gooey feeling like the rest of the primers do. When I first tried it I got a little nervous bc it's not clear,its peach but when applied it blends right in and there's no traces of peach. Not only does this primer help my foundation stay on for a long time it also really evens out my skin tone. I know a lot of other primers promise to do the same but this is the only one that has delivered. On a good skin day, I've been able to leave the house with just the primer and a little blush or bronzer. It makes my foundation go on a lot more evenly too. I think I should go stock up on this in case it gets discontinued! On another good note it was only $7.99 and thats pretty good for me compared to the $50 I used to spend on Smashbox's primer. I've seen this at local drugstores (anywhere that sells Rimmel products)

Wet n Wild Coloricon in Lust 

I've been a huge fan of their new color icon palettes. I think I almost have every one. I'm missing a few but I'll defenitly get them. I'm so impressed with this new line. The colors are all so rich and pigmented and they last on my eyes for hours without that annoying crease you get with some other eye shadows. One of my recent  favs that I've been using more this month is called Lust. It has 6 different colors, 3 are matte and 3 are shimmery. The colors range from a light pale pink to a dark highly pigmented purple. You can make a very pretty purple smokey eye or an everyday pretty purple look. Some days when I dont have the time or dont  feel like doing a full eye makeup look, I will just use the pale pink or pale nude colors all over my entire eye lid and Im good to go. I love how you can get so many different looks with the colors in there palettes including this one. If you haven't tried these new palettes you really need to, take my word for it. I've read a lot of reviews that say they compare these to MAC's eyeshadows and I totally agree, except these are a whole lot cheaper. You cant go wrong. They have a trio palette's for $2.99, the 6 color palette's are $3.99 and the 8 colored ones are $5.99. You can find these at drugstores where Wet n Wild products are sold.  

L'OREAL HIP High Intensity Pigments in Progressive

This is actually a random eye shadow or pigment that I picked up over a year ago at CVS bc it was 50% off.  I forgot I had it until a few weeks ago when I came across it in one of my draws. It's so tiny its easy to look over.

I use this as an eye liner usually on my lower lid. It's a rich dark bronze color as you can see in the pics and  they call it Progressive for some reason. I either use it alone or over a brown eye liner. It really makes your eyes pop, especially for blue eyes.  I use a slanted eye liner brush to apply this. You just have to be careful because the fall out could be a little messy and I have to be careful not to get one of the tiny  particles in my eye. ( Its happened and its annoying lol). Before I apply it I make sure that the color is packed on to the brush well to prevent fall out. Im not sure if they sell them anymore, they might. I haven t actually looked for them. They had a few other colors, I think a pretty blue, a silver, pink and a few others. This is another product that can last you forever because you only need  a tiny bit. Too much wont look right .I wish I could remember how much it was. Sorry. If anybody's seen these or owns them, let me know!

Five Favorites: August 2011

So here are my five favorite products for the month of August. A few of the products I’ve had but used more this month and there are a few new great products I purchased this month. I can’t believe next month I will be writing about September products already. This summer went by really fast, but it was a good one  

 Vaseline Cocoa Butter Vitalizing Gel Body Oil

I've been using this body oil after I get out of the shower all summer long. I’m so glad I bought it because I can’t imagine not having right after I get out of the shower. Vaseline has come out with a lot of good products and this is definitely one of them.  The almond oil fortifies your skin with essential minerals and antioxidants while the Brazil nut oil helps boost skin’s natural moisture barrier to lock hydration. Not only does it help revitalize the skin, it also gives your skin a more supple, healthy glow. So not only does your skin feel extra smooth and soft you can actually see how your skin glows from this oil, but don’t worry just because your skin looks shiny doesn’t mean its going to feel oily and greasy. Unless you go overboard and put globs of it on. A little amount goes along way too.  It also smells really good! I apply this right after I get out of the shower then apply my usual body lotion for extra hydration.

Studio Gear Dual Identity Wet/Dry Foundation

I was looking for a really good wet/dry powder foundation for a while. I really did my research on this because I knew I wanted a non drugstore brand this time, the reason being is I’ve tried pretty much every powder foundation (wet or dry) drugstore brand and was never really too impressed with any of them. So I went to one of my favorite stores website, Ulta and looked up their best powder foundations and found Studio Gear Dual Identity Wet/Dry Foundation. I read all the reviews and descriptions and it sounded like just what I was looking for. I like liquid foundation but there’s those days when you don’t have as much time or don’t need full coverage,  so that’s when this kind of foundation comes in handy. Plus I like the dewy finish it gives me when using it wet. This product plays two different identities, powder foundation and water based foundation. It comes with a sponge called Angel Skin, it’s a dual surface sponge, one side for dry application and the other for wet application. I really actually liked this sponge until I realized you can only use the wet side once because after its been moistened the water ruins the material. So this is a trick I do,  I mix 3 parts of glycerin with 4 parts of water and mix it together in a small spray bottle, then mist my face before applying the powder and use a kabuki brush to blend it in and it gives me a fresh dewy look. You can actually use this with any powder if you wanted. The glycerin also gives me extra moisture and helps set the product.  This product comes in five different colors I believe. I use Praline, its like a dark beige. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good quality wet/dry powder.

Velcro Rollers

I can't rave enough about Velcro rollers! There so great, especially for my hair type. which is straight/wavy, that tends to get frizzy and puffy right after blow drying oh and is also very thick! Right after I'm done blow drying my hair I separate the top of my hair into three sections and roll each backwards into a large roller. Then I usually roll two sections in the middle and roll those as well.   I wouldn’t recommend spraying any hair-spray until you take the rollers out or you might have a sticky hot mess while trying to take the roller out. Do this with any sections of your hair, it's up to you. I try to leave them in for at least 20 minutes and use that time to do my makeup or get dressed. Then right before I'm ready to leave my house I take them out. The rollers also give me some volume too which is a plus and you can find these basically anywhere for cheap. You can get them in sets of 12, 24 or you can just buy 3 at a time. So the prices vary.

e.l.f Defying Eye Brush

Im still amazed that I only paid $1 for this wonderful little brush, I’ve actually went back and bought a few more just in case it went out of stock or was ever discounted. I’ve found that I can use this brush in a few different ways. My favorite is to define the crease and defining the outer V, then I like to use it for highlighting the inner corner of my eye, brow bone and even to contour my nose. The size of this brush is perfect for fitting right into the crease, its small enough but also has that rounded tip to highlight the inner corners, and also is a good fit for the sides of your nose. elf has some really great eye brushes, one of my favorite eye shadow brushes is also from elf and only a $1.

Clean & Clear Advantage popped pimple relief

Although we all know we’re not supposed to pop pimples, sometimes its just really hard not to. I'm definitely guilty of this, and that’s why I bought clean & clear’s popped pimple relief. It promises to diminish any trace of the pimple while the gel begins to work. It’s designed to soothe soreness and clear up acne pimples. I bought this a few months ago hoping everything they promised to deliver would work. It has 2% salicylic  acid, which is a great source of clearing bacteria and clearing scars. I used this the first time I popped a small pimple (by accident) lol. and after a day I noticed that any marks or the beginning of scaring was gone.  this product is excellent to prevent any scarring from acne that occurs after you pop your pimples. I remember I bought it at Walgreens for $6.99, at first I was a little taken back by the price but that’s just the bargain shopper in me. Overall, I'm not disappointed in the price now knowing that it was worth it. 

Five Favorites: July 2011

Here are my five favorites for the month of July. I noticed that I tend to wear less makeup in the summer, probably because I’m usually tan and don’t feel like I need as much. Plus when its super hot out sometimes I just don’t go all out. Don’t get me wrong, I hardly go out with nothing on my face but you get the idea. This month will have more of a variety of beauty products. Hope you enjoy  

L.A. Colors

Art Deco Nail Lacquer

I love experimenting with different nail designs and these are perfect for doing that. The brush is high quality and makes it very easy and fast to use. It lets you draw either thin lines or thick. I first discovered these at a family dollar store and they were $1.99, the next time I saw them was at the Dollar Tree so they were only a $1 each! I currently have them in black, white, yellow, pink, gold and silver. I want to get them in every color. I was recently at the Dollar Tree and I was in heaven because they had the whole collection of colors. I wanted to buy each one but I didn’t. I need to go back very soon and get the rest of the colors. For the price of these the quality is great, the colors pop out especially if you use them on top of a lighter nail color. My favorite combo is white nail polish with zebra print in black.

TREsemme Deep Clarifying Shampoo

This is a really good shampoo that I use every 2-3 times I wash my hair to get all the build up out from the hair products I use. I’ve tried other clarifying shampoo’s and compared to the other ones I’ve tried this one actually makes a difference. When I don’t use this shampoo I use John Frieda’s Full Repair and that stuff is really great also, but if even if you’re not using a ton of hair products you still need to use a clarifying shampoo that really gets in there and removes all the oils and gunk (at least once a week). Depending on your hair washing schedule. If your looking for a good one I strongly recommend Tresemme and the bottle is huge, you’ll have it forever.     

Milani Mineral Blush

I bought this blush a few months ago but didn’t start using it until this summer and now I use it almost everyday. I use it in Sunset Beach. The color is buildable so you can wear it for a natural look or you can apply more if you’re going out at night. This color looks good with a tan bc it’s an apricot/ peachy color. I’ve heard some youtube gurus say these are pretty much the dupe for NARS orgasm. It’s also light weight and goes on flawlessly (it comes with a little brush like most blushes do but I would use a normal blush brush for the best application. I always change blush colors once fall comes and I'm defiantly going to buy one of the other colors from Milani.

Hot Shot Tools Blow Dryer

The type of blow dryer I use is important because I have very thick hair that usually takes forever to blow dry. So I can’t just use any blow dryer unfortunately, I’m so glad I found this one. Helen of Troy is known for making great hair tools, I have one of their curling irons and I love it. I bought this at Sally's Beauty Supply, at the time they were having a special where it came with a Helen of Troy flat iron for $50. To be honest the flat iron is not to great at all, but it was worth it bc the blow dryer is excellent. My main concern when buying a blow dryer is to make my dry faster. It has a 1875 watt powerful air flow, with ionic and Tourmaline technology that makes your hair dry faster. It also has 2 speed/4 heat combinations with a cool setting and it comes with a concentrator attachment (that I use every time). I can honestly say it takes me half of the time to blow dry my hair now. It used to take me at least 45 minutes and I dreaded drying my hair but now I really don’t mind. Plus its really light so your arm isn’t killing you when your done.

Shimmering Facial Whip

I picked this up the last time I was at Target when they finally started selling the whole line of e.l.f products. I was so excited, I about 15 things bc the most expensive product was $5. The shimmering facial whip was one of the $1 items I bought. I really like it, its pretty much a shimmering whipped facial highlighter. It blends in well and doesn’t make your face feel greasy. I use a tiny dab on my cheeks and my nose after I apply my bronzer and it gives your face a subtle glow. It comes in 8 different shades: persimmon, Camilla, lilac petal, toasted, golden peach, spotlight, pink lemonade and citrus. I use golden peach, but the camera makes the color look orange and its definitely not. Sorry about that
