ABC Nail Challenge: P is for Polka Dots!

This week for the ABC Nail Challenge I choose polka dots for the letter P. I know, it's not too original but there are so many different looks you can create with a few dotting tools.

Going along with the "P" theme I used Scandal  by Sinful Colors (one of my favorite pinks) and Popular by Revlon on my accent nail. You can't really tell in the picture but Popular has both silver micro and hex glitter which makes this such a pretty color. I know a lot of other beauty bloggers love it too.

I didn't have a set look I wanted to achieve so I just began dotting small and large dots on the sides of my nails. I didn't want to do the usual straight dots across, I wanted something a little different.

I haven't done a polka dot mani in a long time so it was fun and I like how they turned out. What are your thoughts on polka dot nails, do you like them or no?

ABC Nail Challenge: H is for Half Moon

This week we are on the letter H for the ABC Nail Challenge and I was hoping to use a nail polish that's name began with a H but I only had a few and they weren't my favs. This was kinda a rushed mani and that's why I didn't get the post up last night  :(  Anyway, I chose to do a half moon manicure even though this isn't a look I love. I only tried it once last year because it was required in the other nail challenge I participated in. I remember not liking the outcome at all and it being hard to get all the moon shapes equal in size. I wouldn't say these came out great but I guess there not too horrible.

Radiant by Revlon

The colors I used for this look were: Snow me white by Sinful Colors for the moon and Fashionista by Revlon for the top color. Fashionista is a dark saturated teal cream shade and the consistency is almost perfect making it very easy to apply. This color always looks better in person than it does in the pictures; it doesn't look as patchy. I added a coat of Radiant by Revlon to my accent nail. Radiant has a blue clear tinted base with blue glitter and larger green and silver hexagon shaped glitter. It's perfect for layering over Fashionista since the colors are so similar. Then of course used Seche Vite for my top coat.

I used those hole reinforcement stickers for the first few nails but those things don't like to stick too well to your nail so then I used french manicure guides for the rest of the nails. That's why some of them have a neater line than others. If I wasn't in a rush I probably would have started over again.

ABC Nail Challenge: Letter G

Hey Everyone!! This week is letter G for the ABC Challenge and I decided to do a Gold Glitter mani. I think I'll always love glitter polishes no matter year, season or day it is.  I also did some nail art using scotch tape.

I used Black Out by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear for my base on all my nails except my ring finger. Then I applied a coat of Seche Vite and let them dry for a good 20 minutes. With two pieces of regular Scotch tape I made a triangle shape to place on my nails and filled in the area with a coat of Gold Coin by Revlon. While the polish was still wet I carefully removed the tape. Once I did all my nails I applied another coat of Seche Vite, can you tell that's my favorite top coat? :)

On my ringer finger I used Milani's Jewl FX  in Gold. I have a few of the other polishes in the Jewel FX collection and there more of a fine glitter but this one takes it up a few notches. To me this isn't normal glitter polish, it's like a dense layer of miniature sequences in a clear base. You can't paint it on like usual, for me I found it easiest to just apply a few blobs and use a toothpick to separate the glitter until my whole nail was covered.

Revlon Nail Art Break-Up Review

I must be out of the loop or something because I was at Walgreens yesterday and saw the Revlon Nail Art Break-Up display for the first time. So I figured that they just came out with these nail polish duo's but come to find out that they've been around since the winter. Basically its a dual ended nail polish, where on one side its a regular color and the other side is a different color crackle top coat. Being the nail junkie I am I had to get at least one.

This little duo I picked up is called Lavish Lapis, I don't understand the name either but the colors are gorgeous. The base is a bright shiny teal and the crackle is a bright blue.

The brushes are a little shorter than the brushes in the traditional Revlon polishes, but as far as width there the same.

 This is with 3 coats of the base color because the polish is very sheer. As far as application I felt like it was very easy to apply. I really love this color and wouldn't mind wearing it alone. 

After the 3 coats I applied the crackle top coat. For some reason the consistency was different, I found it to be a little on the thick side which didn't make for an easy application.

I'm not too sure if I like the overall look or not yet. If the crackle polish wasn't so goopy it might have crackled better. I'm surprised because I've always liked Revlon polishes because of the quality. It's not horrible but I doubt I would spend another $8 on another one.

NOTD: Popular = Another Revlon Fav!!

Hey Dolls!!

So I wanted to show off this new color I got the other day real quick. I spotted it at Target and had to get it. I love Revlon's new nail polishes and Popular is another great addition. It's actually a re-release of what was previously known as Starry Pink last year. Not sure why they renamed it but either way I love it. 

Five Favorites: March 2012

I apologize for posting my March favorites late and I'll say it again, better late than never. I feel like I've been saying that too much lately, which is so not like me. (bad blogger)!
Here are my five favorites for March, these are all products that I've had and just started using. Wow, I'm actually surprised I was able to go the whole month without buying one new beauty product. That wont last for long though.


Organix Nourishing
Coconut Milk Shampoo

I tried this shampoo a few months ago and really liked it. Somehow it got hidden behind a bunch of stuff in my bathroom cabinet. So I decided to go through everything and found the bottle I bought. I was so happy that I found it but mad that I've had it all this time and forgot. I love using sulfate free shampoo's, there so much better for your hair and it shows. My hair feels so silky and shiny when I use this, plus it smells amazing and you can still smell it on your hair the next day. I haven't used their conditioner with it but I imagine it works just as well. It's not expensive either. I believe it was around $6 at CVS.

A Year's Challenge Week 13: Ruffian Mani

I am so late posting this week's nail challenge! Sorry! I need to get myself back on track. Everytime I went to do my nails this week it either wasn't the right time or I didn't have enough time to finish them. It's crazy because I've always found time to do my nails.

This week's challenge was a Ruffian mani and I honestly never heard of it before so I had to goggle it. I was surprised when I first saw what it was, it reminds me of the half moon mani except the moon part is bigger.

NOTD: Whimsical Finally!!

Happy Monday Dolls!
Today I wanted to show you this nail color Im totally loving, Whimsical by Revlon. I've seen this paticular nail polish around for a few months now, yet I couldn't find it anywhere. I was on a serious hunt for a few weeks then I started to give up and forget about it. I went to a different Rite Aid than the one I usually go to the other day and I was looking around the beauty aisles like always. I looked at the Revlon section and my eyes probably came out of my head when I saw Whimsical sitting right there. I was so excited that I finally found it. If you haven't seen this polish yet, here it is.

Step by Step Water Marbling Tutorial & Video

Water Marbling is a fun creative way to use your nail polish, I'm not gonna lie though. I was very intimidated by the whole process at first. It actually took me a while to get the hang of it. Once you practice enough & get the technique down its very easy. If I can do it, believe me anyone can do it.

I have been so excited to do my first video tutorial and a little nervous too..lol. As well as the video I included a step by step tutorial in this post. NOTD: 1rst Water Marbling Attempt- Sally Hansen & Revlon

Hey Dolls!
I finally tried water marbling on my nails. When I first watched a video on it a few months ago it looked easy. Yea right! lol. Now I understand why they say practice make perfect with this. I only water marbled my ring fingers since this was my first time and I'm just getting used to it.

Even though my first attempt wasn't the greatest because I don't really like the design I choose to dunk my finger into. I'm just happy to have finally accomplished it. *Next nail project, stamping!! I have the kit already,  but that's another thing you have to practice at to get right. But its worth it for our nails, right? lol. Okay onto my nails:

Five Favorites: December 2011

I cant believe how late I am with this post, I usually post my monthly favorites at the very end of every month. I have been a little busy this past week though. But, better late then never, right?  I would say that most of these products are new for the exception of a few.


REVLON Colorburst
Lip Butter

You might have heard me say before that I'm not a lipstick or lipgloss kind of person. I never really like the way lipstick looks on me and lipgloss is just annoying, I hate the stickiness and how you have to reapply it every other minute. I only really use chapstick and my favorite has been Blistex Silk & Shine for years. I think my lips are addicted to that stuff. I ended up buying Revlon's Colorburst Lip Butter in Creme Brulee'. If I do end up wearing any type of color I like nude colors and creme brulee is a pretty subtle nude. I saw a lot of great reviews on these so for $5 or $6 I figured I would try it and now I love it. I keep it in my purse where my Blistex is so I can always where it. Its so different from other lipsticks, I love how it hydrates my lips like chapstick does and also gives a pretty color that actually lasts. I would recommend these to everyone.  I noticed how they have a wide variety of colors so I wanna pick up another one. I bought this at CVS for $5.50

NOTD: Silver and Matte French Manicure

This is gonna be a quick NOTD post because I'm still not sure if I like it yet. I was inspired from a look that Kim Kardashian did back in August of 2009, it was a black on black mani with a matte and glossy finish. I love the contrast between the base and the french tips, so when I saw this I knew I had to try it. Here's the pic of Kim's nails:

MY FAV NAIL COLORS OF THE SEASON + SWATCHES

This post is going to feature some of my favorite nail colors I've collected this season along with swatches. If you read my blog you might know that I'm really into nail polish, I always have been but my obsession has gotten worse over the year.  I used a nail wheel to swatch each color so you can hopefully see what it looks like outside of the bottle. As you can see I marked each color with a number right above and that corresponds to the descriptions below. I wanted to narrow it down to just 10 colors but I couldn't do it, narrowing it down to 13 was even hard. I hope you enjoy this post :)

NOTD: REVLON'S FIERCE & METALLIC

Happy Thanksgiving!!! I hope everyone eats lots of turkey, if you like turkey, me personally do not.  I don’t know if some of you remembered the NOTW  I had just posted a few days ago, well I deleted it and removed it from nails. I wasn’t really feeling the way the mani came out. I don’t think I liked the color combo and these were supposed to be my Thanksgiving nails so I wanted something a little more festive.

Okay, so now onto my new and improved NOTW:

NOTD: REVLON'S GOLD COIN & SALLY HANSEN'S CLEAN-UP PEN

I'm really liking this color, Gold Coin by Revlon. I never really look for nail polish in the Revlon section but it was like it caught my  eye while walking down the makeup aisle. They actually have a lot of new pretty colors. So I'll be going make for more soon! There are a few reasons I'm really loving this. I know it looks very sparkly in the picture but its not, that's just  the flash. Its more opaque and you looks really gorgeous. I only had to apply one coat which made me really happy, it was so easy to apply and went on evenly. Plus, it dried so fast.

MINI DRUGSTORE HAUL!

It's no doubt I'm a shopaholic and always have the need to spend money (especially on beauty products). Lately though I've had to cut back on my daily drugstore stops to monthly stops. I know, its been hard but its only temporary. This week though, I did do some drugstore hopping. Not all in one day, throughout the week and picked up some cool things. This is the first haul I've ever done, yayy!!! lol. Okay keep reading :)

On Tuesday: 

 I ended up stopping at The Dollar Tree and Big Lots. They were on my way home and I haven't been to either stores in a while so I said why not? Here's what I picked up:

The Dollar Tree

L.A. Colors Art Deco nail polishes, I love these so much that it is my goal to have every color in there collection. So every time I see them I pick up a few new colors. I'm pretty sure I'm only missing 2 or 3 colors then I'll have them all! Their really great for creating nail designs and the size of the brush is nice and thin plus there only a $1 each (sometimes $1.50) depending on where you buy them. Here are the colors I got this time:

Review: Revlon ColorStay Overtime Lip Color

16 hour ColorStay Overtime Lip Color with Soft Flex Moisturizing Top Coat in Neverending Nude

This is one of those lipstick’s and clear top coat in one deal. Whenever I buy lipstick or lipgloss, which isn’t too often I always buy one that promises to stay on for a long time. One of the main reasons why I don’t usually wear anything but chapstick is because I hate how you apply it then ten seconds later you have to re-apply it. Or when you're wearing lipgloss and you go outside and your hair blows in your face and sticks to you lips. I don’t know that just really bothers me lol.



I saw this at Walgreens and really liked the color, plus it promises to stay on for 16 hours so I figured I would give it a try. Oh and plus it was 50% off so it only came to $5. It’s lighter on your lips then it looks in the swatch I did.

PROS

- It does stay on your lips for a good 8 hrs. (maybe even 16 hrs. but I couldn’t wait that long)

- The color including the top coat looks exactly the same hours later

- The color is really pretty and the top coat is shiny but not too shiny. Subtle

- It doesn’t stick to your hair when the wind blows outside (a plus for me)



CONS

- The color isn’t very easy to apply evenly

- Even though the color lasts a while, it doesn’t feel as comfortable on your lips as they said it would

- I don’t like how the lip color gets on the top coat brush every time you use it. I feel like it can ruin the top coat application

- The moisture only lasts for about an hour or two.

Overall I don’t think this is a bad product but I don’t think its great either. It does stay on like they promised. But I feel like it should go on more evenly. I don’t think I would recommend this product to anyone unless it was 50% off or you got a really good deal for it. Besides all the cons the color is very pretty. Personally I wouldn’t buy it again. But you live and learn lol
